Southeastern Drops Matchup with Bulldogs

DURANT, Okla. – Despite double-digit kill outings from D'Nari Mills and Ruthie Forson, Southeastern saw its winning streak come to an end on Tuesday with a 3-0 loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 12-13 overall and 7-6 in Great American Conference play with another home GAC matchup set for Thursday, Nov. 2 when they host Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m.

Mills would lead all attackers on the contest with 14 kills and turned in a double-double with 12 digs.

Forson turned in another double figure kill outing with 12 and dished out 21 assists while adding three digs and three blocks.

Noelia Rocha was next in line offensively with five kills.

Amaya Constantino turned in a team-best 14 digs, with Mills next up at 12 and Peyton Kriegel on her heels at 10.

At the net, Michera Moffett turned in four blocks, one of them solo, while Forson added three and Andra Acheampong had two, including a solo as well.

SWOSU took control midway through the first set and would use an 11-3 run to close out the set with a 25-12 win for a 1-9 lead.

The Storm would take an early lead in set two, but a 13-5 run would give them a six-point advantage which they would hold onto to take the set 25-19.

SE would again take a lead in the third set, and again the Bulldogs would rally, but this time it would turn into a back-and-forth matchup. After the teams clawed their way to a 17-17 tie, the set would feature eight more ties and eight lead changes, with each team surviving a set point before SWOSU would score the final two points to take the set 27-25 and fashion the 3-0 final in the match.
