DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern head football coach Bo Atterberry has announced the finalization of his staff heading into 2023 Spring football.

"These men bring a lot of experience and ideas to the field and have a lot of familiarity with the league and the region. Grateful for Dr. Newsom, Keith Baxter and staff for their leadership in making these hires, which I believe will help advance not only our football program, but also our university."

Atterberry will be welcoming in one new coordinator as Brandon Smith will take over as the team's defensive coordinator, while
Alex Rainwater will remain with the new coaching staff and assume the new role of offensive coordinator. Smith will also be working with the team's linebackers, while Rainwater will work directly with quarterbacks.

Southeastern will welcome three other new coaches to Durant, with Troy Parker coming on to coach the defensive backs, Karson Green joining to coach the offensive line, and Jarvis Brooks taking on the team's wide receivers.

SE retains four other coaches from last season's team, as the offense returns tight ends coach
Kendrick Davis and running backs coach
Lorenzo Mitchell, while the defense returns defensive line coach
Chris Ellison and outside linebackers coach
Brandon Sanders.

Smith returns to Southeastern after four seasons as the linebackers coach at Arkansas Tech where he also focused on recruiting southwest Arkansas and the DFW Metroplex while organizing the Wonder Boys academics.

He spent the season previous to that stop as the linebackers coach for the Savage Storm with that SE defensive ranking sixth nationally in total defense.

Smith spent four seasons as the defensive coordinator for East Texas Baptist where he worked with linebackers and safeties over his time while also serving as the recruiting coordinator.

He is a 2010 graduate of Midwestern State and would serve as a graduate assistant at West Texas A&M for two seasons before working multiple stops across the NFL and CFL.

Rainwater made his return to SE prior to the 2021 season and worked with the team's wide receivers the last two years.

The Southeastern graduate started his coaching career with the Savage Storm in 2014 as a student assistant working with the team's tight ends.
Â
He would serve as the team's tight ends coach from 2015 through 2018, coaching a trio of All-Conference performers at the position, led by NFL Tight End and 2021 Super Bowl Champion with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Codey McElroy, as well as Bryce Steele and James Revada.

After leaving SE he would spend the 2020 season as the quarterbacks coach at Madill High School where his quarterbacks finished the season completing over 71 percent of their passes for 1,200 yards before returning to the Savage Storm.

Green transitions to the Southeastern coaching staff after spending last season at Southwestern Oklahoma State where he served as the offensive line coach and director of academics.

He coached the three previous seasons at Central Oklahoma where he also worked with the Broncho offensive line and was the run game coordinator.
Â
He also got his start in collegiate coaching at UCO before taking a position in the 2019 season with Massachusetts with the offensive line and offensive quality control.

Green played collegiately at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M before finishing his career as an offensive lineman at Iowa State where he would earn his undergraduate degree in 2017.

Parker returns to his alma mater after spending two seasons coaching at Tioga HS in Tioga, Texas, where he worked with the team's defensive backs.

He is a 2019 graduate of Southeastern after playing five seasons at SE and serving as a team captain and earning all-conference honors.
Â
Parker transitioned to the sideline as a graduate assistant for the Storm in 2019 and spent two seasons on staff before moving to the high school level.
Â
Brooks comes to Southeastern after starting his coaching career with a stop at Langston where he served as a graduate assistant working with defensive backs and special teams.
Â
He transitioned to the sidelines after a playing career that encompassed two stops and two positions, starting as a quarterback at Texas Lutheran before transferring to Sam Houston State where he played tight end for the 2020 National Champion Bearkats.
