DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern came out firing to take the first set, but suffered from unforced errors over the next three sets and dropped its rivalry matchup with East Central, 3-1, on Tuesday night in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 5-9 on the season and 1-3 in Great American Conference play heading into a Thursday night matchup with Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee, Okla., on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.

"We had way too many unforced errors," said head coach
Nicole Solum-Mitchell, "We were undisciplined and let ECU take control of the match after we controlled it the first set. Now we refocus and get ready for Thursday."

D'Nari Mills picked up 16 kills on the night to pace the Storm offense, while
Michera Moffett and
Faith Kruebbe each added six in the match.

Ruthie Forson handed out 35 assists and chipped in four kills in the offensive effort.

Defensively,
Amaya Constantino led the back row with 10 digs while
Patience Lewis added nine.

In the opening set, SE used a 10-2 run to turn a one point deficit into a 17-10 lead before pushing on to win the set 25-19 to take a 1-0 lead.

The tide turned in the second set as the Tigers would pull away early to take the set 25-10 and even the match at 1-1.

SE closed the gap late in the third set, tying the match at 21-21 before ECU would take four of the final six points to win the set 25-23.

The fourth set saw the Tigers use a 15-6 run through the middle of the set to pull away and take the final set 25-11.
