SET ONE
A slow start by the Storm saw Henderson State build an early 6-2 lead and would keep in front at 9-4. Southeastern took advantage of four attack errors by the Reddies, and kills from Rocha and Mills cut the gap to four 15-11. HSU again strung together a flurry of points to extend its edge to 21-11 and remained in control to win the set 25-17.
SET TWO
Southeastern trailed 7-3 at the start of the set and would use a timeout to regroup, eventually tying the frame 9-all after kills by
Noelia Rocha and
Faith Kruebbe. SE and HSU remained close, as Rocha slammed down a kill to tie the set 13-all, but a 3-0 run by the hosts gave Henderson a 16-13 lead.
From there, the Reddies held a two to three-point margin, up 22-20, and the Storm would use a timeout. SE notched a point right after the break, but the HSU attack would prove too much, as the hosts took the second set 25-21.
SET THREE
The Storm fell behind early but quickly erased the gap with a 3-0 burst and would tie the set 8-all after a kill by Rocha. HSU found the lead again on a 3-0 run, but a 4-0 stretch by SE featuring kills from Mills and Forson gave the blue-and-gold a 15-14 edge. The set was tied again at 16-16 before another burst of points by the Storm gave them a 19-17 lead.
After a Henderson timeout, kills by Rocha and Forson kept Southeastern in front before HSU used its final timeout of the frame, with SE leading 22-18. SE secured the final three points of the frame, capped off by a kill from Mills to win the set 25-20.
SET FOUR
Little separated the two sides in the early goings, as the set saw two ties in the first ten points at 5-all. HSU found the first breakthrough on a 3-0 run before the Storm tied the set at 9-all on a 4-1 burst. Southeastern and Henderson went point-for-point from there with another five ties, but a 6-0 run by the Reddies would prove the difference maker in the set, as they went ahead 21-16.
The Storm battled back to cut the gap to two points after a kill by Mills and eventually one, 23-22, after back-to-back errors by HSU. Southeastern's rally would fall short in the closing exchanges, as the Reddies scored the final two points of the set.
