Storm Volleyball Bounces Back at UAM with Sweep

MONTICELLO, Ark. – Southeastern bounces back on Friday to split the Arkansas road trip, picking up a 3-0 win against Arkansas-Monticello inside the Steelman Field.

Faith Kruebbe led a Savage Storm attack that had 39 kills with 11 on .250 attack, and Noelia Rocha would finish just shy of double-figure kills with nine. Riley McFarland notched a third straight double-double with 19 assists and 16 digs, while Kylee Turner led the back row with 19 digs.

SET ONE
Southeastern and UAM traded points to start the set tied at 5-5, and a quick run of scores from the Blossoms gave them a 10-8 edge. SE was quick with its reply, stringing together four straight points, including two kills by Rocha to grab the lead again, 14-12. Once again, the set was locked at 14-all before another 3-0 run for the blue and gold pushed them back out in front, and that lead soon grew five on a 5-0 burst to set up a 25-21 win.

SET TWO
Little separated the two sides early in set two, but the blue and gold soon took control, building a 10-2 run to race ahead 15-6. During this stretch, Jaedyn Newman slammed down a pair of kills, while the Blossoms committed a handful of errors. UAM responded with a flurry of points of their own to slash the SE lead to six, though a 4-0 reply by Southeastern pushed the lead back to double figures, 21-11. The Storm remained in front all the way to set point, winning the frame 25-16.

SET THREE
The blue and gold kept their foot on the gas, as they jumped out to a 10-2 lead behind three kills from Kruebbe and another two from Alexis Williams. After weathering the Storm's fast start, UAM found its footing and would cut SE's edge to five, and the Blossoms continued to add to their score to make it 15-12.

Southeastern picked up the pace again, scoring five of the next seven points to extend its lead to 20-14. The Storm would outscore UAM 5-2 down the stretch, including a pair of kills by Morrison to win the frame 25-17.

SE (7-11, 2-5 GAC) returns home for back-to-back GAC matches on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 16-17, against Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist.
