ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Southeastern completes the first day of play Central Regional Preview at 38-over 326 in a tie for 11
th with Washburn.
Two GAC teams are tied for first in the standings, with Southwestern Oklahoma State and Harding at 20-over 308. On the heels of the two leaders, Arkansas-Fort Smith fired in a 22-over 310, while Central Oklahoma sits one stroke behind in fourth at 23-over 311. Sioux Falls rounds out the top five at 31-over 319, and seven strokes separates them from the Savage Storm in 11
th.
Carley Button and
Karen Kim matched each other through the first 18 holes of play, as they fired in a 6-over 78. Button was near perfect on the front half of the course, shooting even-par with a birdie on hole one, while Kim shot 3-over par on both the front and back nine. Button would finish with team-high two birdies on the day, with her last coming on the 18
th.
Addison Oestreicher followed the pair with a 10-over 82 day after going 6-over on the front nine and 4-over on the back half with two birdies.
Meredith Reid turned in a 16-over 88 in the first round with her best play coming on the back nine, where she shot 5-over with a trio of pars.
Kaeli Drake sunk a birdie on the first hole the day, starting on hole 13, and later would finish 18-over 90. Drake saw her best play on the back half of the course, tying for the second best score in the lineup with a 4-over par across the back nine.
In a tightly contested field, Southeastern will look to make moves on the team leaderboard tomorrow during the final round of play at the Par 72 St. Joseph Country Club.
