ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State falls in the conference opener at Ouachita Baptist 4-3 from the Ward Tennis Center.
SE and OBU traded the first two doubles matches, as
Luis Ching and
Luke Tinnock turned in a 6-3 win at No. 3. However, the No. 5 partnership of Phil Exner and Ramon Strassmann for the Tigers were difference makers in the doubles round, winning at No. 1 to break the tie and secure the point.
OBU opened the singles rounds, winning at No. 2 and No. 1 to stretch their advantage to 3-0 in the match.
German Vallejo pulled a point back for the Storm from the No. 5 line, winning 7-5 and 7-5, but the Tigers would reply with a win at court six to clinch the match 4-1. SE's Tinnock and
Benjamin Fracassi won at their respective courts to make the final score 4-3. Tinnock won back-to-back sets after losing the first to get a 4-6, 7-5 and 6-1 win, while Fracassi held off Moritz Buss for a 6-4, 5-7 and 6-1 victory from the No. 4 spot.
Southeastern (8-3, 0-1 MIAA) heads to Edmond on Sunday, Arp. 6, at 1 p.m. to take on Newman from the Edmond Center Court.
