DURANT, Okla. – The Southeastern Oklahoma State men's tennis program remains undefeated this season after a 4-2 win over McKendree at home to move to 5-0.
The duo of
Jose Pinto and
German Vallejo gave SE the early advantage during the doubles round, winning 6-1 at No. 1, but the Bearcats won the next two at No. 2 and No. 3 to take the lead 1-0.
Luke Tinnock tied things up 1-all at the start of the singles play with a 6-3 and 6-2 win at No. 3, though MKU would add to its score with a victory at Court 1 to stay ahead 2-1. Once again, the match was tied after SE's
Luke Tinnock got a win at No. 3 6-3 and 6-2 to improve to 3-2 this season.
SE took the lead for the first time in the match through Vallejo, who grabbed a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 to push the blue and gold ahead 3-2.
Djordje Kurcubic provided the match-clinching point at Court 5, winning 7-6 and 6-1 over MKU's Bendix Schroeder to win the match for SE 4-2.
Southeastern (5-0) heads south to the Lone Star state for a pair of matches versus Western New Mexico and No. 7 Lubbock Christian on Saturday and Sunday. SE faces WNMU first on Saturday at 2 p.m. before taking on LCU on Sunday at 10 a.m. from the Collin College Tennis Courts in Plano.
