Southeastern Meets Oklahoma Baptist in GAC Opener Tuesday

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern returns home for the first time in 2025, as they get set to host Oklahoma Baptist in the Bloomer Sullivan Gym on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. for the first GAC action of the season.
 
SERIES NOTES
  • The Savage Storm and Bison split the season series in 2024, with Southeastern securing a 3-2 win on the road and Oklahoma Baptist winning 3-0 in Durant. SE's win was just the second victory in Shawnee, Okla., and the first since 2016.
  • Oklahoma Baptist leads the series 3-19, dating back to the first meeting in 2009. Of those three wins for Southeastern, two have come in GAC play. Last season's 3-2 victory for the blue and gold was SE's first win over the Bison since 2017.
 
STORM REPORT
Southeastern (3-5) completed the Javelina Volleyball Classic 1-3, having picked up a win over Bridgeport 3-0. The Storm dominated the match from the beginning, holding the Purple Knights to five points in the first set and eight in the second.
 
Gabby Jones earned her second All-Tournament Team honors of the season, finishing the Javelina Volleyball Classic with 41 kills, 34 digs and 9.0 total blocks. The freshman from Temple, Texas, paces the Storm attack with 88 kills and is averaging 3.38 per set, which ranks second-best in the GAC. Helping provide a one-two punch is Noelia Rocha, who is second on the team in kills with 64 after recording 32 over the weekend.
 
Jasmin Dion continues her strong start to the season, as she enters GAC action second in the conference in assists per set (9.08) and is one of five players to record 200 assists this season. Dion dished out 127 sets at the Javelina Volleyball Classic, including a season-best 40 against Lake Erie in the opener. As a unit, the Southeastern attack is averaging 12.7 kills per set on a .210 attack average, which both rank in the top four in the conference.
 
The duo of Maci Morrison and Alexis Williams picked up where they left off at the Javelina Volleyball Classic, recording 10.0 and 8.0 total blocks, respectively. Both Morrison and Williams are tied for a team-high 21.0 total blocks and tenth individually in the conference with 0.81 blocks per set. Additionally, Morrison had a productive weekend in attack, tying her career-high number in kills with 12 against Saint Martin's, and finished the invitational with 31 total kills.
 
SCOUTING OKLAHOMA BAPTIST
Oklahoma Baptist enters conference play with a 7-2 record after going undefeated at the Redwood Coast Volleyball Classic. The Bison dropped just one set over the weekend, and in seven of their wins, have lost just two total frames. Oklahoma Baptists' only defeats have come at the hands of two top ten teams, with then No. 8 West Texas A&M winning 3-1 and then No. 4 Central Oklahoma winning 3-0.
 
The Bison attack is spearheaded by Rylee Unruh and Allie Stricker, who have 91 and 88 kills, respectively. Unruh had 42 kills over the weekend, including a high of 17 against Chico State, while Stricker chipped in 46, recording double-digit kills in all four matches. In addition, Unruh helps lead the top service team in the GAC with 15 aces, and the Bison are averaging nearly two service aces per set (1.93).
