DURANT, Okla. – The Southeastern men's tennis program heads to Topeka, Kan., to compete in the ITA Central Regionals on September 26-28. The Savage Storm will have six individuals competing in the singles round and three doubles teams playing.
The first action of doubles play begins on Friday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m. with the newly formed partnership of
Benjamin Fracassi and
Simon Ojeda taking on Gwendal Mazuay and Alexis Mattenberger from Emporia State. At the same time,
Eric Poindexter and
Jose Pinto will face Washburn's duo of Zinovii Nahirniak and Benjamin Fock. In the B Draw,
Luke Tinnock and
Connor Shellem will battle Luis Agullo Diaz Munio and Ingacio de Lorenzo Vicente from conference rivals Harding.
In the singles Main Draw, Pinto and Fracassi get the round going at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, as Pinto takes on Ouachita Baptist's Guillaume Randoux, while Fracassi battles Zinovii Nahirniak from Washburn. At noon, Ojeda takes the court to face Pavel Vysotin from Northwest Missouri State, and at the same time, Poindexter will be playing Arkansas-Fort Smith's Rodrigo Hoppe.
The Flight B draws kickoff with Tinnock on the court at 12:30 p.m. against Northeastern State's Luis Denda, and shortly after, Shellem gets set to face Alezandre Jaulin from Nebraska-Kearney at 1:45 p.m.
Like the women's team, the men began the season at the Rumble by the River, hosted by Northeastern State, and would pick up six singles wins, including two from each of Pinto and Ojeda. During doubles play, SE was led by Fracassi and Poindexter, who were a perfect 4-0, helping the Storm to six doubles victories.
