ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Southeastern had a trio of players with double-digit kills, but was unable to pick up the win on the road, falling at Henderson State 3-1 on Thursday night.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 9-10 overall on the season and 4-4 in Great American Conference play with game two of the road swing set for 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon versus Ouachita Baptist.

Gabby Jones led all attackers in the match with 16 kills and completed a double-double with 15 digs.
Â
Rylee Jackson was next in line with 12 kills, while
Anger Ngeth added 11 while hitting .429.

Sophee Dean chipped in seven kills and
Nykeriah Allen added six.
Â
Jasmin Dion finished with 40 assists on the night while adding a team-high 20 digs with three kills and two blocks.
Â
Patience Lewis and
Merrick Hammel each added 18 digs in the effort, while Dean had a team-high four blocks.

HSU opened the match on an 11-4 run in the first set, but Ngeth would end that run with a kill and the Storm scored seven of the next 11 points to close the gap to 15-11.

However, four was as close as the deficit would get as the Reddies pulled away for a 25-17 win in the opening set.

SE reeled off the first five points of the second set, including a pair from Jones to take a lead they would never relinquish.

HSU closed to within four points at 10-6 and 12-8, but a Dion block at that point helped the Storm pull away for a 25-13 win to even the match at one set apiece.

The Reddies took an early lead in the third set, but a Ngeth kill triggered a 6-0 run and a
Rylee Jackson kill put SE in front 10-7.

HSU answered and knotted the set at 10-10 and the teams would play to another tie at 12-12.

The Storm reeled off five of the next six points, with a
Sophee Dean kill putting SE up 17-13.

HSU crept back in, tying three set at 20-20 and the match would feature three more ties and three lead changes before the Reddies scored the final two points to take the set 26-24.

Henderson State jumped out to a lead in the fourth set and the Storm clawed its way back into the set, with a
Nykeriah Allen kill tying the game up at 14-14.

The Reddies scored nine of the next 12 points to take a 23-17 lead.
Â
Southeastern answered with five of the next six points, including fending off four set points before the Reddies ended the run and took the final set 25-22.
