Storm Face Bulldogs in Weatherford Tuesday

DURANT, Okla. – The Southeastern volleyball program heads to Weatherford on Tuesday, Sept. 22, to face off with Southwestern Oklahoma State at 6 p.m. in the Pioneer Event Center.
 
SERIES NOTES

• SWOSU leads the series 27-13 and has won 12 straight over the Savage Storm. SE's last win against the Bulldogs was at home in 2021 in a 3-0 victory.

 
STORM REPORT
Southeastern got its first GAC win last time out, defeating Northwestern Oklahoma State 3-1 on the road. SE won the first two sets of the match before the Rangers pulled one back in the third, but the Storm secured the win with a 25-21 set four victory. The win improved SE to 6-8 overall this year and 1-2 in the league standings.  
 
Gabby Jones helped lead the attack in the road win at NWOSU, posting a season-high 19 kills and tying her career-high totals set in 2025. Jones has ten double-digit kill matches this season, including the last three contests. The sophomore outside hitter leads the team in kills and ranks sixth in the GAC with 3.10 per set and 161 total kills. Jones is backed by Rylee Jackson in attack, who is second on the team with 140 kills and 2.59 per set.
 
Closing in on 100 kills this season, Nykeriah Allen has slammed down 97 from her middle blocker position and is attacking at a team-best .314 clip, which ranks ninth best in the GAC. Additionally, Allen is the Storm's top blocker at the net with 41.0 total denials spread across 13 solo blocks and 28 block assists. Anger Ngeth has also provided support for the defense at the net with 29.0 total blocks.
 
Patience Lewis fell one dig shy of her seventh 20-dig match this season, finishing with 19 against NWOSU. Lewis leads the Storm with 230 digs this season and is ninth in the conference in digs per set with 4.26. As a team, Southeastern is averaging 15.17 digs per set and has totaled 819 with four players this season, with 100 digs. Jones and Merrick Hammel both have 120 digs, tying for second on the team, while Jasmin Dion has recorded 112.
 
SCOUTING SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE
Southwestern Oklahoma State enters Tuesday 8-6 overall and 2-1 in the GAC after getting a road win at East Central 3-1. The Bulldogs' win snapped a three-match losing streak, as they had lost three straight to teams either ranked or receiving votes, including a 3-0 defeat to Oklahoma Baptist in their home opener.
 
SWOSU's attack starts with Jenna Houk, who leads the team with 149 kills and is averaging 2.92 per set. Houk is one of four players this season for the Bulldogs to reach 100 kills, as Southwestern is third in the conference with 12.92 per set and 659 kills. SWOSU also ranks in the top three in blocks as a team with 2.01 per set, led by 54.0 total blocks from Sydnee Winfrey. Winfrey is second in the league with 1.06 per set and is followed closely by teammate Katja Blanchat, who is averaging 0.78 blocks per set for 40.0 total denials.
