SE and SNU Clash in the Battle of the Storms

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern begins a three-match home stand on Thursday, Sept. 24, hosting Southern Nazarene in Bloomer Sullivan Gym at 6 p.m.
 
SERIES NOTES

• The Savage Storm and Crimson Storm split the series last season, with SE winning the second meeting 3-2 at home. Southeastern has won the last three matches in Durant, with its last defeat coming in 2022.
• Thursday's contest is the 38^th meeting between Southeastern and Southern Nazarene, and SNU leads the series 27-11.

 
STORM REPORT
Southeastern battled with Southwestern Oklahoma State through three sets, with both sides eclipsing 20 points in the first two sets, but the Bulldogs would come out on top 3-0. Following Tuesday's result, SE sits 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the GAC.
 
Gabby Jones made it four matches in a row with double-digit kills on Tuesday, slamming down 13. The sophomore outside hitter has 11 contests this season with ten or more kills, and is averaging 3.16 per set on a .194 attack percentage. Jones leads an SE attack that ranks seventh in the GAC in kills with 11.9 per set, and the team is attacking at a .180 clip.
 
Facilitating the attack is setter Jasmin Dion, who has surpassed 500 assists this season and ranks sixth in the conference in assists. Dion is averaging 8.81 assists per set and reached 502 on the year after passing around 30 against SWOSU. The Cedar Park, Texas native has also had a hand in the scoring with 53 kills and 11 service aces.
 
The Storm have five players with 100 or more kills this season and are averaging 15.2 per set as a team. Patience Lewis leads the team with 244 and is averaging 4.28 per frame, which ranks ninth best in the GAC. Kylee Turner became the fifth player to reach 100 digs after recording 11 on Tuesday, and she is seeing 2.22 digs per set.  
 
SCOUTING SOUTHERN NAZARENE
Southern Nazarene earned its second GAC win on Tuesday, winning a five-set thriller at home against East Central. The win moved the Crimson Storm to 10-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference standings. SNU boasts a strong road record this season, with three wins in four contests.
 
The Crimson Storm feature two of the top attackers in the GAC in Kate Wright and Rayanna Mauldin. Wright leads the conference in kills with 273 and is averaging 4.33 per set, while Mauldin ranks third in the league with 3.32 kills per set. Wright has reached double-digit kills in all but one match this season, including a high of 28 versus ECU most recently. Wright also ranks second on the team in digs with 233 and has 12 double-doubles.
