Lewis Named the GAC Defensive Player of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Patience Lewis was named GAC Defensive Player of the Week after helping Southeastern go 1-1 last week, including a 3-2 win over Southern Nazarene.
 
Lewis tallied 50 digs across two matches, averaging 6.25 per set, and chipped in five service aces and nine assists. The Pearland, Texas native's week was highlighted by a 36-dig effort in the 3-2 win over SNU, which marked a season-high for the senior libero. Additionally, Lewis served three aces and recorded five assists across the five sets.
 
In the first match of the week at Southwestern Oklahoma State, the Glenda Dawson High School product finished with 14 digs against the Bulldogs to lead the team. This season, Lewis ranks fifth in the GAC in digs with 4.25 per set and has accumulated 280 total digs.
 
Lewis and the Savage Storm (7-9, 2-3 GAC) host a pair of Arkansas foes on Thursday and Friday, starting with Southern Arkansas at 6 p.m. on Oct. 1, followed by Arkansas-Monticello on Friday, Oct. 2, at 4 p.m.
