SE Ends the Battle for the Belt in Eighth

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Southeastern wrapped up the final day of play at the Battle for the Belt and finished eighth with a 54-hole score of 48-over 912. The Savage Storm put in their best score of the event in round three, shooting 4-over 292 as a team.
 
Northwestern Oklahoma State went low over the three rounds to capture the title with a score of 5-under 859 to beat out hosts Henderson State, who finished second at 4-over 868. The Reddies B-Team took third at 15-over 879, while Southern Nazarene (+18) and Arkansas-Monticello (+28) rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth, respectively.
 
SE had two players finish in the top 25 individually, led by Austin Skierski, who placed 16th individually. Skierski put in his best round of the tournament in round three, carding a 3-under 69 with six birdies to help him to a final score of 7-over 223. The sophomore tied for the second most birdies at the Battle of the Belt, sinking 13 across the 54 holes of play.
 
Nicholas Martin also saw his best play on day two, as the senior turned in a 1-under 71 to tie for 21st with a 9-over 225. Martin scattered three birdies across the round, with two coming on the front nine, where he recorded a 1-under 35. Tristun Burnham (T39th) shot 17-over 233 over the three rounds, and capped off his tournament with a 5-over 77 in round three with four birdies.
 
Davis Cioletti finished one-stroke back of Burnham in a tie for 43rd place on the player leaderboard with a 18-over 234. Cioletti carded a 3-over 75 in the third round and added four birdies to his totals to end the event with seven. Reid Sharp recorded his best individual round in the third, as he posted a 7-over 79 to finish 56th with a combined score of 30-over 246.
 
Talan Haley wrapped up play as an individual tied for 39th with Burnham, shooting 17-over 233. Haley capped off his first event of the season with a 2-over 74 in round three with six birdies, including four on the back nine.
 
Southeastern heads back to the Sooner State to compete in the Skip Wagnon Invitational, hosted by Central Oklahoma on October 5-6 at the Kickingbird Golf Course.
