SE Swept by HSU on Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DURANT, Okla. – A rough day at the plate led to a pair of Southeastern losses on Saturday afternoon to Henderson State, dropping the first game of the day 2-0 before falling in the series finale 9-4.
 
The losses drop SE to 3-4 overall on the season and 1-2 in Great American Conference play.
 
The Savage Storm will be back on the diamond on Feb. 19 when it hosts Northwood for a single game at 2 p.m. at The Ballpark in Durant.
 
Southeastern got 7.0 solid innings out of starter Vance Woodruff who allowed two runs on six hits with eight strikeouts, however both runs came home courtesy of wild pitches.
 
Levi Lewis came on in the eighth and tossed a pair of scoreless innings with one strikeout.
 
SE mustered just three hits in the contest on offense.
 
HSU scored on a wild pitch in the fourth and another, with the same runner on third base, in the sixth inning to score its two runs.
 
Things seemed to be looking better for the Storm in game two, with a Woodruff RBI single followed by a Trevor Bowen two-run homer putting SE in front 3-0.
 
That grew to 4-0 in the third on an Evan Ramsey RBI single.
 
Things unraveled in the top of the fourth, however, as the Reddies put up all nine runs in one inning, doing so on just four hits and three Storm errors.
 
SE got a 2-for-3 outing from Ramsey in the finale with an RBI, while Bowen turned in a pair of RBI on his two-run homer and Woodruff drove in the remaining run.
 
Eddie Cervantes was saddled with the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on no hits with four strikeouts in 3.1 innings pitched.  Four pitchers combined to finish the game.
