SE Splits on Saturday at OBU

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Southeastern baseball salvaged a rough weekend by finishing the three-game series against Ouachita Baptist with a 6-5 win after dropping a suspended game one 3-2 in 15 innings and game two 3-0.

SE moves to 5-6 on the year and 2-4 in Great American Conference play.

In the finale, the Storm racked up 10 hits, led by three from Ryan Salter and two by Tucker Alexander.

Travis Caraway drove in three runs, while Evan Ramsey and Josh Smith each added RBI.

Evan Rice got the start on the hill and went 2.1 innings before getting touched up for four runs on six hits.

He handed the ball to Eddie Cervantes who threw 3.1 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out one to earn his second win of the year.

Cameron Mann came on for the final 1.1 innings to collect his second save of the year after allowing an unearned run on one hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Smith put the Storm on the board with an RBI double in the second and Caraway pushed that lead to 3-0 with a two-run double to left-center in the third inning.

OBU, however, would answer with four runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead at 4-3.

Caraway would add another RBI in the fifth with a sac fly that scored Chevis Springer, and Ramsey would push that lead to 6-4 when he squeezed home Salter, who was followed home by Troy McCartney thanks to a Tiger error.

OBU would get one back in the bottom of the seventh, but SE would hold on for the win.

The day opened with the completion of the suspended game from day one as the teams could not settle on a winner through 14 innings.

SE would get a runner to second but was unable to score, while the Tigers brought home a run with two outs to pick up the win.

Brandon Marris had come on to start the day and was saddled with the loss.

The day would not get much better for Marris as he would stay on to pitch the first regularly scheduled game of the day in which SE would fall by a 3-0 score.

He would suffer his second loss of the season on the heels of his first after throwing eight innings and allowing three runs on nine hits with six strikeouts.

The Storm put together just four hits in the contest, as Salter, Springer, Caraway and Aaron Chalk each collected singles.

OBU put up a pair of runs in the first inning and another in the fourth as neither team could muster much offense in the contest.
