Box Score 2 DURANT, Okla. –
Courtney Moore homered in both contests on Saturday, however, Southeastern would come out with a split in day two action at the Southeastern Regional Invitational, topping Lincoln 11-8 before falling to No. 4 Angelo State 4-1.
The Savage Storm move to 6-3 on the season and will face St. Mary's at 10 a.m. and Central Missouri at noon on the final day of the tournament hosted at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex.
Moore was near unstoppable at the plate in game one, finishing the contest 3-for-4 with four RBI, three of which came off her third-inning homer.
Darrian Williams posted a 2-for-3 outing, while
Laramie Beal and
Lauren Renneker each collected home runs.
Mindy McElroy got the start and collected the win after tossing 5.2 innings allowing a run on six hits with six strikeouts.
Rachel Jones tossed two-third of an inning, allowing five runs on five hits, while
Shayna Milam picked up two-thirds of an inning as well, allowing two runs on two hits.
The Storm collected 10 hits in the contest in all.
Williams scored the first run of the game on a double steal in the top of the first inning, and Beal's homer in the second gave SE a 2-0 lead.
That grew to 5-0 when Moore homered to left in the third that scored Williams and Simmons.
The Storm added two more runs in the third on a
Lacie Cook RBI double and an error by the LU shortstop that allowed Cook to score from second.
The Blue Tigers would respond however with six runs in the top of the fourth inning to close the gap to 7-6.
Moore would double home Simmons in the bottom of the fourth to push the lead to 8-6.
Lincoln got a homer in the top of the fifth to again cut the lead to one, but Renneker's two-run homer and an RBI double from Williams pushed the Storm lead to 11-7.
LU would add a solo homer in the seventh to fashion the 11-8 final.
In the second game, SE saw Angelo State score all four runs on two home runs and was unable to mount a late rally in the 4-1 loss.
SE collected five hits by five different people, with Moore homering to collect the only RBI.
The Storm had the opportunity to strike first, but left the bases loaded in the third inning after loading them with just one out.
ASU took would then get a two-run homer in the fourth and another in the top of the sixth to mount a 4-0 lead.
Moore connected on a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the sixth, but SE was unable to mount a rally.
