DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern is set to open a busy midweek over spring break, first hosting Cameron at 2 p.m. on March 19 before heading north to face Oklahoma State at 6:30 p.m. on March 20 in Stillwater, Okla.
Those two contests are the first of six-straight out-of-conference matchups, with a March 23 double-header at Northeastern State set for a 1 p.m. first pitch before the Savage Storm returns home on March 23 for a twinbill with Oklahoma Christian at 1 p.m.
SE enters the week at 15-10 on the year after a three-game sweep of Southern Nazarene which extended the current Storm win streak to four games.
The Storm have picked up the pace offensively, led by
Evan Ramsey who has pushed his average to .390, which is good for seventh in the Great American Conference, while also tying for the league lead in home runs with six and putting up 25 RBI which is the third-most in the conference.
He leads a total of five hitters that have pushed their averages north of .300 on the year, with
Tucker Alexander next in line at .341 with seven doubles, a triple and 17 RBI.
Ryan Salter follows with a .316 average and leads the GAC in stolen bases with 21.
Travis Caraway and
Chevis Springer are both hitting .309 thus far, with each turning in a homer and combining for 34 RBI.
The SE pitching staff has climbed back to the top of the conference rankings with a 3.88 staff ERA which is paced by
Vance Woodruff who leads the entire staff with a 1.93 ERA in seven starts with a 2-4 record and a team-best 45 strikeouts that includes a 14 K performance against SNU in his last outing.
Fellow Starter
Brandon Marris posts a 3.92 ERA in seven starts and picked up his first win of the season in a victory over the Crimson Storm and is now 1-3 on the year.
Eddie Cervantes leads the staff in wins with four, doing most of that work in a long relief role, posting 10 appearances but just two starts.
Cameron Mann leads the team in saves with seven and has added a 3-0 record in 13 appearances with a 2.83 ERA.
Cameron comes to Durant with an 8-11 record overall, but is 4-1 away from Lawton.
The Aggies are led on offense by Nick Smith who is hitting .403 with a homer and 12 RBI, while Brad Blumer and Kaz Sanders are each hitting over .300.
The pitching staff is led by Aaron Kleekamp and Brent Hendy who have each posted two wins, while Drew Reidt leads the staff in starts and carries a 3.34 ERA.
The Cowboys come into Wednesday's contest at 17-3 overall on the season and 15-2 in Stillwater and are currently on a six-game winning streak after a four-game home sweep of Iona.
OSU is led on offense by Tanner Krietemeier who is hitting .403 on the season, while five others are posting averages above the .300 mark.
Zach Fish leads the team with 21 RBI, while Krietemeier and Victor Romero each have 20, while Fish and Romero are tied for the team lead in home runs with four.
Jason Hursh leads the pitching staff with a 1.50 ERA that coincides with team-highs of 28 strikeouts and 36.0 innings pitched.
Vince Wheeland, however, leads the team in wins with four, while Brendan McCurry and Randy McCurry have each tallied one save.
