Women's Tennis Splits vs. WU, UNK

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern women's tennis picked up a win over host Washburn, but finished its road trip to Kansas with a 1-1 record after a loss to Nebraska-Kearney.
 
The Savage Storm picked up a 6-3 victory over the Lady Blues, but fell to UNK 5-1.
 
SE moves to 4-6 in head-to-head matchup this season.
 
The Storm fell behind 2-1 in doubles against WU, with the duo of Marina Dias and Elba Haugen picking up an 8-4 win at No. 3 to avoid the sweep.
 
Southeastern recovered in singles play, starting with a 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 win by Sabina Mardarenko at No. 1 to even the match at 2-2.
 
Fabiola Juarez then put the Storm in front 3-2 with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2.
 
Andreea Georgescu suffered SE's lone singles loss at No. 3 to even the match at 3-3, but Cassaundra Braaten put the Storm back in front for good with a 6-0, 6-4 win.
 
Haugen followed at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-4 win, while Dias rounded out the 6-3 win with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6.
 
Against UNK, the Storm fell behind 3-0 after getting swept in doubles play, but were unable to recover in singles.
 
Juarez, this time playing No. 3, picked up the lone SE win with a 6-2, 6-1 decision, while Mardarenko and Geargescu both fell in straight sets at No. 1 and 2, respectively.
