RRUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern women's tennis lands four on the All-GAC Teams, while head coach
Cari Groce was tabbed the GAC Coach of the Year and
Emilia O'Neill was voted the GAC Freshman of the Year.
O'Neill also earned First Team All-GAC honors with doubles partner
Milana Voloshyn, and
Amishi Shukla and
Lilly Shepherd garnered Second Team All-GAC recognition. In addition, Shukla and
Sreevally Medishetti were named to the GAC Academic Honor Roll.
In her first season as head coach with SE, head coach Groce guided the Savage Storm to their fourth GAC Regular-Season title after completing an undefeated campaign in conference play. This season marked Southeastern's first unbeaten season in GAC action since 2017, when they went 6-0 and won the conference tournament.
O'Neill reached 20 singles wins during the regular season, finishing with a 22-9 overall record, primarily playing at the No. 2 spot, where she picked up nine of those wins. The freshman from Pinamar, Argentina, suffered just one defeat in singles play in GAC action, as she compiled a 4-1 conference mark. Voloshyn, who joined O'Neill as a First Team All-GAC recipient, went 12-9 this season in singles action playing at Court 1, where she was 2-2 in league play.
In doubles play, Voloshyn and O'Neill partnered up at the No. 1 line and compiled a 5-6 record together and are currently ranked No. 31 in Division II. The duo finished 2-3 against GAC competition, highlighted by a 6-4 win versus Harding's No. 6 duo Karli Roux and Brooke Coffman.
Shukla earned a 3-0 mark in conference play at the No. 3 singles line and ended the regular season 16-8 overall. The Indore, India native was equally as good in doubles play, recording a 17-9 overall record, including a 3-1 record against league opponents from Court 3.
Shepherd highlights another standout freshman for the Storm this season, as the Mackay, Australia native went 5-0 against the GAC from line five in singles and 11-5 overall, while going 8-8 in doubles play. Shepherd primarily played at the No. 5 spot in singles, where she compiled a 6-2 record and was 4-2 at line four.
