DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern finishes unbeaten in GAC play to capture the GAC Regular Season Championship with a perfect 5-0 conference record. The Savage Storm capped off their campaign with a 5-2 win at home over Southern Arkansas.  Â

This season marks the fourth time Southeastern has won the regular-season title, and the second in three seasons. In the 15 seasons of GAC play, SE has won the regular season or the tournament in seven of those years.

SE secured the doubles point behind a 6-4 win at No. 2 by
Amishi Shukla and
Lilly Shepherd, who provided the deciding win in the round after SAU's duo at the No. 3 spot withdrew. Southeastern would start the singles round with a 2-0 advantage, following a withdrawal at line six by SAU.

The Storm and Muleriders traded wins at spots one and two, with
Emilia O'Neill defeating SAU's Roksana Kokocha 6-4, 6-4 at Court 2 to give SE a 3-1 lead. Shukla turned in the next win for SE at No. 3 with a 6-2, 7-5 win against Taylor Conway to push the blue and gold ahead to 4-1 and clinch the match win.Â
Lilly Shepherd capped off a strong performance by the Storm with a dominant win at Court 5, winning 6-0, 6-0 over SAU's Victoria Perez. Southeastern (11-7, 5-0 GAC) carries an eight-match win streak into the GAC Tournament on May 1-3 in Bentonville, Ark., where the Storm will be the No. 1 seed.Â
