Miscues Costly in SE Loss at ATU

Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Three Southeastern errors proved costly as Arkansas Tech scored a pair of unearned runs to hand the Savage Storm a 2-1 loss in the series opener in Russellville, Ark., on Friday night.

The loss dips the SE record to 9-8 overall on the year and 4-6 in Great American Conference play with a double-header slated for Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

The Storm got a complete game out of starter Vance Woodruff who finished with 8.0 innings pitched, allowing a pair of unearned runs on five hits with four strikeouts.

Evan Ramsey turned in a 2-for-4 outing at the plate and connected on a first-inning solo homer to account for SE's lone run.

Travis Caraway and Trevor Bowen each added hits in the effort.

Ramsey put the first run of the game on the board with a solo shot over the left-center wall in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead.

The Wonder Boys, however, would answer with an unearned run after a pair of SE errors.

Neither team would sniff home plate for the next five innings until ATU would take advantage of a third SE miscue to score the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Storm would put runners on first and second in the top of the ninth, but could not get them home as ATU would hold on for the win.
