DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern fought hard but was unable to climb out of an early hole after dropping all three doubles and fell to rival East Central 7-2 on Thursday.
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 6-11 overall on the season and 2-3 in Great American Conference play.
SE fell behind early thanks to a tough doubles outing which included an 8-4 loss at No. 1, an 8-3 loss at No. 2 and an 8-0 defeat at No. 3.
The Storm woes continued through the top half of the singles lineup as
Sabina Mardarenko dropped a 6-1, 6-2 match at No. 1 to see the deficit grow to 4-0.
The gap moved to 5-0 when Anreea Georgescu was tripped up 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 and then to 6-0 when
Fabiola Juarez fell 6-2, 6-2.
Cassaundra Braaten got the Storm on the board with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 4.
Elba Haugen slipped at No. 5 and fell 6-1, 5-7, 0-5, but
Marina Dias let SE finish on a high note with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 6 spot.
Southeastern will close out the regular season on April 15 at 1 p.m. against Harding.
