Box Score ADA, Okla. – Southeastern put its chances for a Great American conference tournament trip in jeopardy on Friday by coming out on the wrong end of a 6-5 score against rival East Central in Ada, Okla.
The Savage Storm dropped to 22-19 with the loss and would likely need to win both games on Saturday and get plenty of help from the teams ahead to advance to the postseason tournament.
Tucker Alexander,
Evan Ramsey,
Troy McCartney,
Nick Grimmett and
Trevor Bowen each posted a pair of hits as SE held a 12-to-11 edge in hits.
Grimmett drove in a pair of runs with a homer, while
Chevis Springer, Ramsey and McCartney each added an RBI.
Brandon Marris tossed 6.2 innings in her start and saw his record fall to an even 4-4 after allowing six runs, only three of which were earned, on 11 hits with two strikeouts.
Cameron Mann came on to throw the final 1.1 innings without allowing a run or a hit.
ECU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Storm got one back in the fourth when Alexander scored on a McCartney groundout.
The Tigers, however, would pick up another run in the bottom of the fourth and take a 3-1 lead.
Springer would drive in Bowen on a fielder's choice in the fifth to trim the deficit to 3-2.
Grimmett's two-run home run in the sixth inning would give the Storm its first lead at 4-3 and a Ramey sac fly in the seventh would make that lead 5-3.
ECU, however, would take advantage of an SE error in the bottom of the seventh and pick up three runs on three hits to take a 6-5 lead.
Southeastern would get a runner to third in both the eighth and ninth inning, but was unable to tie the game.
