Baseball Ready to Open GAC Play

LIVE STATS

DURANT, Okla. – While it may be just February still, Southeastern baseball is already jumping headlong into Great American Conference play as it opens the league schedule with a three-game road trip to Henderson State Feb. 14-15 in Arkadelphia, Ark.

Friday's single game is slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch, while the Saturday double-header is set for noon.

After the winter weather forced the Savage Storm to postpone its midweek matchup with Northeastern State, the team will head into league play with just four games under its belt.

SE opened the year with a three-game set at Texas A&M-International, winning the final game after dropping the first two.

The team then returned home only to have its home opener moved to Cedar Hill, Texas, to take on Northwood on its home field due to weather in the Durant area, picking up a 7-2 win over the NAIA foe.

The Storm enter the GAC opener at 2-2 on the year, but have won two-straight.

HSU is winless thus far on the season at 0-6 after dropping four games, two to GAC opponents in non-league games, in Houston, Texas, at Minute Maid Park, before dropping its first home games to Arkansas-Fort Smith 4-3 and 7-3.

Southeastern is paced at the plate by Trevor Bowen who is hitting .364 on the young season with a double and two RBI.

Collin Sefcik leads the team with four RBI, while Evan Ramsey is right behind with three and the team's lone home run on the season.

Mathew Benedict leads the way on the hill with a 1-0 record and a 1.29 ERA over 7.0 innings pitched in two appearances.  He got the start and the win in the game against Northwood.

Mason Crenshaw got credit for the team's other win and did not allow a run over 2.0 innings pitched in that series-ending victory over TAMIU.

Canyon Conley leads the staff in strikeouts with nine in his 4.1 innings of work.

Hunter Mayall leads the Reddie offense with a .385 average, while Lee Richardson is not far behind with a .333 mark.

Mayall is one of five players with two RBI each and he leads the team in stolen bases with five.

Jay Hawley carries the low ERA for HSU at 1.13 but is 0-1 in two appearances with 8.0 innings of work and five strikeouts.

Jordan Wright leads the team in strikeouts with seven over 8.0 innings, while Colton Lorance has tossed a team-high 10.1 innings over two appearances.
