Box Score 2 DURANT, Okla. – A day after being stung in it home opener, No. 10 Southeastern bounced back with a pair of wins over Newman, taking game one 9-1 in six innings before winning the finale 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

The wins lift the Savage Storm to 5-4 on the season heading into the Great American Conference opener against Ouachita Baptist on Feb. 22-23 in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The opener looked like home run derby in the early innings with
Courtney Riddle connecting on a three-run homer in the first,
Conner Harmon adding a solo who tint he second and Riddle coming back in the third with a second bomb, this one a two-run blast.

Those three homers sprang SE to a 6-0 lead after three innings.
Â
Newman answered with a run in the top of the fifth, but a
Brittany Wilson double that scored Riddle in the bottom of the fifth answered and gave SE a 7-1 lead.

Sydney Kramer would then double home
Jessica Simmons in the sixth, followed by Kramer scoring on an error later in the inning to wrap up the 9-1 run rule win.

Riddle finished the contest 2-for-4 with five RBI and three runs scored thanks to a pair of homers, while Kramer finished the game 4-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Five others picked up hits in the game, with Wilson and Harmon each adding an RBI.

Mindy McElroy tossed a complete game, allowing a run on three hits with five strikeouts to move to 2-1 on the season.

The series finale was a tighter affair, with the Storm picking up just five hits by five different players.

SE picked up all three of its runs in the third inning, the first on a throwing error that allowed
Shaina Crites to score.

Later in the inning Riddle singled to shortstop to drive in Kramer who reached on the previous error, and SE pushed that lead to 3-0 on a
Whitney Hamilton RBI single that scored
Kelsey Overacker.

The Jets answered in the top of the seventh, first scoring on an RBI line drive and three batters later scoring on a groundout that was the second out of the inning to cut the gap to 3-2.

The game ended one batter later when Taylor Schawe singled on a pop up that SE's catcher was unable to get to, but
Jacee Bennett took the ball and managed to make a diving tag at home as Missy Swanson attempted to score the game-tying run from second base.

As mentioned, five different players collected a hit each in the game, with Riddle and Hamilton picking up RBI.

Shayna Milam got the start and moved her record to 2-1 after tossing 6.0 innings and allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts.

Bennett then came on for the final three outs, allowing two hits, but collecting the save after not allowing a run.
