DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern's women's tennis team opened the spring portion of the schedule with a 9-0 sweep of Austin College at the Southeastern Tennis Complex on Tuesday night.

The win moves the Savage Storm to 2-1 overall on the year heading into a Feb. 24 match at Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee, Okla., at 3 p.m.

SE got a test at number one doubles where
Ilga Racika-Racko and
Brittany Tobin edged out a 9-7 win over the pair of McDonald and White.

Things were a little easier at numbers two and three where
Darija Catipovic and
Conchi Assiego picked up an 8-3 win, followed by
Marina Dias and
Elba Haugen who also picked up an 8-3 victory.

The momentum carried into singles play, where the number one player for the Storm was tested as Catipovic needed a 10-6 win in the tiebreaker to complete the 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 win.

Racika-Racko cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at number two which clinched a match victory for SE.

Assiego made the advantage 6-0 after cruising to her own 6-1, 6-0 win at number three.

Cassaundra Braaten at number four picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win, as did Haugen at number five.

Tobin rounded out the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 win at number six.
