Box Score SAN ANTONIO, Texas – No. 10 Southeastern was unable to get any offense going and suffered its first loss of the season in a rough way, falling 8-0 in five innings to St. Mary's in the St. Mary's Tournament on Saturday afternoon in San Antonio, Texas.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 2-1 on the year with a pair of games still on the schedule for Monday afternoon in San Antonio. SE's game against Angelo State slated for Saturday as well was cancelled when the tournament schedule was restructured due to rains in the area.

It was the first five-inning run-rule for an SE team since the 2011 season.

Southeastern was able to put together three hits on the contest, with
Jessica Simmons,
Courtney Riddle and
Haley Strawn each picking up a hit.

The Rattlers rapped out nine hits in the game, but was aided by four Storm errors which led to three unearned runs.

Jacee Bennett was handed the loss after getting the start and going 2.2 innings, allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Shayna Milam allowed three runs, just one earned, on three hits over 1.2 innings of work and
Hosanna McCoy faced two batters.

STMU took advantage of SE miscues right out of the gate, scoring one run thanks to an error and another on a wild pitch, and when added to an earned run took a 3-0 lead after one.

They added two more runs on a second Richter double in the second to mount a 5-0 lead.

The Rattlers would add another unearned run in the fourth to go up 6-0.

In the bottom of the fifth they took advantage of a leadoff double and two batters later made the score 7-0, and finally took advantage of the fourth Storm error to plate the eighth and final run.
