Baseball Opens Busy Weekend at SNU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will open the busiest portion of its 2014 schedule on March 14 when it opens a three-game conference series on the road in Bethany, Okla., against Southern Nazarene that begins a span of seven games in six days.
 
The Savage Storm open the first weekend of spring break with a 1 p.m. double-header on Friday against SNU, followed by a 1 p.m. single contest on Saturday afternoon.
 
SE then returns home for a Sunday, March 16 twin bill when it hosts McMurry at 1 p.m., followed by a return trip to face the War Hawks in Abilene, Texas, with single games at 7 p.m. on March 18 and 1 p.m. on March 19.
 
The Storm come into the weekend with a 10-12 record overall and a 4-8 mark in Great American Conference play.
 
The team did snap a losing skid with a double-header split at Arkansas-Fort Smith in its last trip out, downing the Lions 3-0 in game one before dropping the nightcap 9-2.
 
The team is paced on offense by Chevis Springer who is hitting .308 on the year with three doubles, a triple and a home run with seven RBI and a team best 20 runs scored.  He has also swiped 10 bases on the season.
 
Collin Sefcik leads the team in RBI with 10, while Jacob Carter has eight and four others have seven.
 
On the hill, Nick Johnson, Mathew Benedict and Mason Crenshaw each have two wins, while Crenshaw also leads the team with five saves.
 
Jaime Paxton boasts a team-low ERA of 1.57, while Crenshaw and Johnson are each under 3.00.
 
Southern Nazarene enters the weekend at 10-11 overall with a 2-10 mark in league play.
 
The Crimson Storm is led by a trio of .300-plus hitters in Dillon Feland, Michael Lowe and Chance San Miguel.
 
Feland is hitting .353, while Lowe is at .333 with two homers and 15 RBI and San Miguel is right behind at .324 with two home runs and 14 RBI.
 
Kyle Fultz leads the squad in home runs with three and RBI at 19.
 
Tyler Williamson leads the pitching staff with a 2-1 record and a 2.11 ERA, while Mason Pinion is 2-0 with a 4.09 mark.
