SE Softball Ready for Rivalry Renewal

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern softball will put its 11-game winning streak on the line as it works to strengthen its hold on the top spot in the Great American Conference standings when it welcomes East Central to the Southeastern Softball Field March 25 for a double-header beginning at 1 p.m.
 
The Savage Storm come into the contest with a 20-7 mark on the year and a GAC best 13-3 record and are in the midst of an 11-game winning streak that started on March 1 with a win in the final game of the series against Harding and includes sweeps of Arkansas Tech and Southern Nazarene.
 
SE comes into the midweek matchup with its rival as the league's top pitching staff with an ERA of 2.36.
 
Three Storm pitchers rank in the GAC top-10 in ERA, led by Mindy McElroy who is second in the conference with a 1.74 ERA and a 10-3 record.
 
Jacee Bennett is next with a 2.45 ERA which is fifth in the league, while Shayna Milam is 10th at 3.18.
 
Southeastern is hitting .304 as a team, but is led by a trio of players who rank in the top 10 in the GAC in hitting.
 
Sydney Kramer is batting .466 on the year with 24 RBI and is second in the conference, while Jessica Simmons is right behind in third with a .440 average and a league-leading 22 stolen bases.
 
Laramie Beal is ninth in the GAC with a .408 average, but leads the team in home runs with six.
 
ECU comes into the twinbill with a 17-12 record overall and a 9-7 mark in GAC play which is good for fifth place.
 
The Tigers took three of four games from SNU over the weekend, but are 5-5 in their last 10 games.
 
ECU does lead the league in hitting with a team average of .341, led by the league's best average of .500 by Autumn Suydam, while the next six hitters are each batting over .300.
 
The Tiger pitching staff is led by Lacey Paulk with a 2.42 ERA and a 5-2 record, while Brianna Nunley leads the team in wins with seven.
