DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will set out to maintain its position atop the Great American Conference standings when it welcomes Southern Arkansas to town March 28-29 for a four-game series at the Southeastern Softball Field. The first double-header will start at 1 p.m. March 28, with the final two games starting at 11 a.m. on March 29.
The Savage Storm come into the final four games of its 12-game home stand with a 21-8 record overall and a 14-4 mark in league play which was good for first place in the GAC standings.
SE had its 11-gam,e winning streak snapped in a midweek matchup with rival East Central, but recovered to earn a split in the twinbill and has still won 15 of its last 17 games.
Leading the way for the Savage Storm is a trio of hitters who are ranked in the top 10 in the conference in average.
Sydney Kramer paces that group with a .447 average which is good for second in the league, while also adding 25 RBI and 21 runs scored.
Jessica Simmons is not far behind at .420 which is fifth in the league, while also leading the conference in stolen bases with 22.
Laramie Beal is ninth in the conference with a .413 average and is fifth in the GAC in home runs with seven.
The SE pitching staff is ranked second in the league with a 2.75 staff ERA, led by
Mindy McElroy who is second in the conference with a 1.76 ERA and boasts an 11-3 record.
SAU comes to town with an 18-14 record overall and a 13-9 mark in league play which is good for fourth.
The Mulerider offense is paced by Shelby Miller who is hitting .413 on the year, along with Brooke Goad who is hitting .364 but leads the GAC with 14 home runs.
The SAU pitching staff carries a team ERA of 4.36, led by the 3.40 mark of Hanna Gill. Gill is 5-2 on the year, while Miller has seven wins and a 3.71 ERA.
