Box Score MAGNOLIA, Ark. – After a two-week break from conference play Southeastern nearly knocked off league leading No. 4 Southern Arkansas, but was unable to take full advantage of three Mulerider errors and dropped the series opener on Saturday 2-1 in Magnolia, Ark.

The three game series was pushed back one day due to the threat of rain in Arkansas, and the final two games of the series will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 14-15 overall on the year and 6-10 in Great American Conference play.

Chevis Springer turned in SE's lone multi-hit outing, finishing 2-for-4 with a stolen base.

Cody Coats each picked up a hit, while a pinch-hitting
Collin Sefcik drove in the team's run.

Canyon Conley got the start and was saddled with the loss after allowing a pair of runs on nine hits with six strikeouts in 6.2 innings pitched.

Mathew Benedict tossed 1.1 innings and held SAU top one hit.

The Mulerider struck first with a two-run single in the bottom of the third inning.

The Storm would respond in the seventh inning, taking advantage of a one-out Coats single.

Coats moved first-to-third on an error by the SAU second baseman and scored on a Sefcik sac fly to left to cut the gap to 2-1.

That was as close as the score would get as the Storm stranded four runners, one in scoring position, from the fourth inning on after falling behind.
