Box Score 2 MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southeastern opened Sunday afternoon by picking up an impressive 7-3 win over nationally-ranked Southern Arkansas, but was unable to complete the sweep and win the series, dropping the rubber-match 1-0 in Magnolia, Ark.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 15-16 overall on the year and 7-11 in Great American Conference play.

In game one SE out-hit SAU 11-to-5 and used four pitchers to cobble together a solid combined performance and earn the win.

On the offensive side
Evan Ramsey turned in a 3-for-5 performance at the plate with an RBI and a pair of runs scored.
Â
Chevis Springer and
Chance Burcham each added two hit days at the plate, while
Jacob Carter picked up two RBI, and
Brayon Colley,
Jacob Soisson and Burcham each added one.

On the hill,
Jaime Paxton got the start but collected a no decision after tossing 3.1 innings and allowing a run on three hits with three strikeouts and six walks.

Dwight Camp then came on in relief and earned the win to move to 3-3 after throwing 1.1 innings and allowing a run on a hit.

Mathew Bendict faced four batters and recorded a pair of outs before handing the ball to
Mason Crenshaw who picked up his seventh save after going 3.1 innings and allowing a run on a hit with three strikeouts.

SAU opened a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but a Soisson sac fly that scored Ramsey in the fourth evened the game at 1-1.

A Colley sacrifice fly in the fifth followed by a failed pick-off attempt by the Mulerider pitcher that allowed
Trevor Bowen to score would give SE a 3-1 lead.

SAU closed the gap to 3-2 with a run in the fifth, but a Burcham home run in the top of the seventh answered to push the lead to 4-2.

The Muleriders would get that run back in the bottom of the seventh, but an RBI single by Ramsey followed by a two-run single by Carter would stretch the Storm lead to 7-3 which would hold to be the final.

The series finale was a pitcher's duel that saw SAU take advantage of an SE error in the fourth inning with two outs to score the game's only run.

Nick Johnson was saddled with the loss after tossing 6.0 innings and allowing one unearned run on six hits.

On the offensive side, Springer, Carter and
Ryan Salter each picked up a hit.
