Southeastern Rekindles NSU Rivalry

LIVE STATS

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will renew an in-state rivalry on April 1 when it travels to Tahlequah, Okla., to take on Northeastern State at 2 p.m. in a single contest.

The Savage Storm comes into the midweek matchup with a 15-16 record after a 1-2 series against No. 4 Southern Arkansas over the past weekend.

Tuesday's matchup will come two years and one day since the teams last faced one another, with SE taking all four meetings during the 2012 season, the first in which the teams were not conference rivals, with the final two contests of the series played March 31 in Durant.

In that series, the Storm took games one and two by scores of 17-2 and 9-7 in Tahlequah, before coming home to pick up wins of 3-1 and 5-4.

Southeastern has won nine in-a-row in the series with the last defeat coming on Feb. 19, 2010 in Tahlequah.

NSU enters this year's meeting with a 14-17 record overall.

The Storm will be looking to Chevis Springer for an offensive spark as the center fielder leads the team with a .331 average with six doubles, three triples, a homer, 12 RBI and 26 runs scored.

SE has spread the offense around with nine players posting double-digit RBI totals, but Cody Coats leads the team with 16.

Mason Crenshaw has paced the pitching staff from a reliever role, turning in a 1.72 ERA with a 3-1 record and seven saves in 13 appearances.

Jaime Paxton has come on to turn in six starts and a 2.36 ERA with a 2-1 record, while Dwight Camp has SE's most wins by a starter with three.

The Riverhawks are led by Justin Burgess who is hitting .400 on the year, while five others have .300 or better averages.

Cody Robinson paces the club in home runs with nine and RBI with 24.

On the hill, Kyle Shambaugh leads the way with a team-best 3.34 ERA, while Bryan McClellan has the team-high of three wins.
