Box Score 2 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern held off a late rally to pick up a 5-4 win over Arkansas Tech in the series opener on Friday, and closed the day one sweep with a 2-0 victory in the nightcap in Russellville, Ark.

The Savage Storm moved to 12-7 overall with the wins and 7-3 in Great American Conference play with Saturday's double-header moved up to a 10 a.m. start.

In the opener,
Lacie Cook and
Sydney Kramer each turned in a pair of hits, while five others added one each.

Laramie Beal and
Arianna Jones each drove in a pair of runs, while Kramer added an RBI of her own to go with a pair of runs scores.

Jacee Bennett got the start in the circle and picked up the win, tossing 5.1 innings and allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

Shayna Milam threw 1.2 innings in relief and allowed two runs on two hits.

A Kramer single scored Simmons in the first to stake a 1-0 lead for the Storm.

Beal then singled home Kramer and
Shaina Crites to push the advantage to 3-0.

The Golden Suns answered with two runs in the fourth inning to trim the score to 3-2.

Jones would respond for SE in the top of the fifth with a two-run single that plated Kramer and Cook for a 5-2 lead.

Those runs would become important as ATU added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to close the final score to 5-4.

Beal was the only SE player with multiple hits in the nightcap, going 2-for-3, while four others each had a hit.

Simmons and
Mindy McElroy logged the team's two RBI.

McElroy logged the complete-game shutout after tossing 7.0 innings and allowing just a pair of hits, picking up her fifth win in the process.

The Storm put their first run on the board with a Simmons double in the third inning that plated
Darrian Williams.

The second run came in the sixth when McElroy drove in Beal on a groundout to set the final of 2-0.
