ADA, Okla. – Southeastern snapped a six-match losing skid and picked up its third conference victory with a 5-4 victory over rival East Central on Thursday evening in Ada, Okla.
The women's tennis team improved to 7-12 overall and 3-2 in Great American Conference play with one league game left on the schedule.
The Storm got off to a good start with a pair of doubles wins to take a 2-1 lead.
While ECU picked up the first win of the match at number three doubles, it was the team of
Ilga Racika-Racko and
Brittany Tobin who evened the match with an 8-6 win at number one doubles.
The duo of
Conchi Assiego and
Darija Catipovic followed with an 8-6 win of their own to put the Storm in front 2-1.
The Tigers evened the match when Julia Municoy picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Assiego at number three singles.
SE answered with back-to-back wins, first coming from Catipovic over Arurielie Rodriguez at number two with a 6-2, 7-5 win, followed by a 6-4, 6-2 win by Racika-Racko at number one over Bernardita Muscillo to give the Storm a 4-2 edge.
Tobin then clinched the match at number six with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kelsey Kerr to make the score 5-2.
ECU would pick up wins at numbers four and five to fashion he final of 5-4.
