SE Baseball Swept by #25 UAM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern was unable to bounce back from a day one loss, instead falling victim to No. 25 Arkansas-Monticello in both games on Saturday, falling in game on 13-2 before dropping the finale 4-1 at The Ballpark in Durant.

The losses drop the Savage Storm to 16-19 overall on the season and 7-14 in Great American Conference play.

UAM took advantage of 16 hits and three SE errors in game one to come away with the 13-2 win.

The Boll Weevils put up four runs in the top of the first, but a Cody Coats groundout would drive in Chevis Springer to make the score 4-1.

However, UAM would put up two in the third and three more in the fifth to push the lead to 9-1 before an Evan Ramsey single would score Springer in the bottom of the sixth and cut into the deficit, cutting it to 9-2.

That was as close as it would get though as the Weevils added a run in the seventh and three more in the eighth to push their lead to 13-2 and invoke the run-rule.

Ramsey and Brayon Colley each collected two hits, while Chance Burcham added the team's other hit.

Coats and Ramsey each drove in a run.

Nick Johnson got the start but suffered the loss after tossing 5.2 innings and allowing nine runs, six earned, on 11 hits with two strikeouts.

Jonathan Dailey tossed the final 2.1 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits with two K's.

The finale did not start much better for SE as the Weevils posted three runs in the top of the second inning taking advantage of two Storm errors and a wild pitch to jump to a 3-0 lead.

That lead extended to 4-0 with a run in the top of the fourth.

A Coats double in the sixth would cut into the deficit, but SE would not be able to open up a rally, falling 4-1.

Ramsey and Coats collected Southeastern's only two hits, with Coats driving in a run.

Jaime Paxton got the start and was handed the loss after tossing 1.1 innings and allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits with one strikeout.

Mason Crenshaw came on to toss 5.2 innings of solid relief, allowing one unearned run on one hit with eight strikeouts.
