GAME NOTES

DURANT, Okla. – Working on a short week and riding the high of its 52-49 victory in the home opener, Southeastern will now get an opportunity to put its conference-best rushing attack on display for the country when the Savage Storm travel to Arkadelphia, Ark., to take on No. 7 Henderson State at 7 p.m. on Sept. 18 in a game that will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.

SE comes into the contest at 1-1 on the season and 1-1 in Great American Conference play after each of its first two games were decided on the final play of regulation, the first going against them in a 30-29 loss at Southern Arkansas and the second working in their favor in the 52-49 win over Arkansas-Monticello.

Henderson State enters the game at 2-0 on the year and 1-0 in league play after opening the season with a 72-7 win over Southern Nazarene and following it up with a 27-10 victory over Division I Nicholls State.

The Storm put up its highest scoring effort since a 56-50 win over SAU in 2013, and set a new single-game record for total offense with 616 yards spread almost evenly between the run and the pass.

SE posted 312 yards on the ground in the game and has posted back-to-back 300-yard rushing outings as a team, a feat not accomplished since the 2012 season.

Ronnie Green turned in a career-high outing with 141 yards on 25 carries with three touchdowns, while Devlon Wortham turned in his second-straight 100-yard performance with 114 on 12 carries.

Despite the somewhat limited outing, Wortham leads the conference with 171.0 rushing yards per game and is ranked fifth nationally.

SE's passing attack returned in force against UAM with Ryan Polite turning in a highly-efficient 22-of-30 effort for 304 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions.

The Storm lead the league in rushing and total offense and are fifth in scoring at 40.5 ppg.

Chad Tucker paces the offense from the secondary with 15 tackles on the year along with an interception and a fumble recovery.

A trio of line backers each have double-digit tackle numbers with Kevin Jones-Dickerson turning in 13 stops, while Malique Earl and Thomas Curry have 12 each, with defensive back Raheem Wilson adding 12 stops of his own.

Ryan Harkness leads the defensive line with nine tackles with 1 TFL, four quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery.

The Reddies come into the game averaging 521.0 yards per game of total offense, led by the 366.5 ypg posted by its passing attack.

That passing attack is led by Kevin Rodgers who is 50-of-71 on the season with eight touchdowns and one interception along with 577 yards.

His primary target is Darius Davis who has 11 catches for 228 yards and five touchdowns, however only one catch and 11 yards came in their most recent contest against NSU.

Joseph Snapp and Adrian Tucker also have over 100 yards receiving each, while Mark Czaus has hauled in 10 receptions.

A trio of runners have combined for the bulk of their rushing attack, with Rodney Bryson leading the way with 55.5 yards per outing, while Ryan McDonald is averaging 41.5 ypg and Jaquan Cole is chipping in 39.5 ypg and has two of the team's three rushing touchdowns.

Their defense is holding opponents to 8.5 ppg over two games, led by Lawson Shulz with 11 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Henry Davis has turned in 1.5 sacks, while Cameron Deveraux and Gary Vines each have one interception.

Thursday night's game will be the first ever national broadcast for a Southeastern football game, while it marks the second-straight season the Great American Conference has had a game featured as Harding topped Southern Arkansas 28-14 in last season's featured game.
