DELRAY BEACH, Fla.  – No. 41 Southeastern responded to its first loss of the season at the hands of No. 14 New York Tech by picking up back-to-back wins over Eckerd and No. 32 Florida Southern in Delray Beach, Fla.

The 2-1 road trip moves the Savage Storm to 10-1 overall on the season heading into the delayed home opener set for 2 p.m. on March 23 against Northwest Missouri State at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

The Savage Storm picked up wins at number one doubles and number one singles against NYIT, with Tiagio Ferreira and
Alberto Blesa picking up an 8-4 doubles win, followed by
Maxim Fil picking up a 6-2, 6-3 win at one singles to provide for the two SE points in a 7-2 loss to the 14
th ranked team in the nation.

The team responded though in their next match, with a doubles sweep against Eckerd, starting with an 8-4 win at one doubles by Blesa and Ferreira.

That was followed by an 8-3 win at number two by Fil and
Jack Gibbens, and then an 8-4 win by
Billy Haugen and
Paul Nguyen at number three.

Fil added another win at number one singles, with Blesa following at number two with a 6-4, 6-1 win.

Ferreira followed with a 7-5, 6-2 win at number three for a 6-0 lead before EC swiped a win at number four to fashion the final of 6-1 with matches at numbers five and six not being completed.

SE finished the trip with yet another win over a team ranked higher than it in the ITA rankings, this time picking up a dominant 7-2 win over No. 32 Florida Southern.

It started with a pair of doubles wins, first by Ferreira and Blesa at one doubles, 8-4, followed by a win at two by Fil and Gibbens, also 8-4.

Fil would add another win at one singles, this one coming in a 3-6, 6-0, 6-0 fashion, to stretch the lead to 3-1.

Blesa would add a 6-3, 6-3 win at number two for a 4-1 lead and Ferreira would clinch the win with a 6-3, 6-2 win at number three.

Gibbens stretched the lead to 6-1 with a 6-4, 6-04 win at number four, but FSC picked up a win at number five to close to 6-2.

Joaquin Aquillera would close out the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win at number six to lock in a 7-2 win for the storm.
