DELRAY BEACH, Fla.  – Southeastern bounced back from an 8-1 loss to No. 13 New York Tech to close out its Florida road trip with a 5-4 win over Eckerd in Delray Beach, Fla.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 7-3 overall on the year heading into the delayed home opener on March 23 against Northwest Missouri State at 2 p.m. at the southeastern Tennis Complex.

In the trip finale SE found itself down 2-1 after doubles play with the number one pair of
Alexsandra Reljic and
Maria Martinez posting an 8-6 win.

Reljic continued her momentum into singles play and evened the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at number one.

Eckerd regained the lead with a win at number two, but
Darija Catipovic answered with a hard-fought 3-6, 7-6 (7), 6-0 win at number three.

Martinez gave the Storm a 4-3 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win at four, but EC answered with a three-set win at number five to event he match once more at 4-4.

Conchi Assiego would seal the Storm win with a 6-0, 6-4 win at number six for the 5-4 team victory.

In the first match of the trip the 13
th-ranked NYIT squad swept doubles play and took singles one through five, with Assiego picking up the only SE win at number six.
