Box Score 2 DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern opened Saturday with a 4-0 shutout victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State to even the series, but dropped a 4-0 decision in the rubber match to close out the series at The Ballpark in Durant.
The split moves the Savage Storm to 6-7 overall on the season and 1-2 to open Great American Conference play, however that leaves them just one game out of first as no team survived the opening weekend of conference play without a loss.

SE struck early in game one with a
Kaleb Thomas triple clearing the bases and scoring
Tim Hunter and
Dylan Helms for a 2-0 lead.

It stretched to 3-0 when Thomas scored on a passed ball.

Helms would push that advantage to 4-0 in the second inning with an RBI double that scored
Ty Hanson.

Starter
Dylan Linke would scatter four hits over the first eight innings, but after loading the bases in the ninth was replaced by
Brady Colbert who recorded three outs without allowing a run for the save, his fourth.

Linke moved to 1-1 after tossing 8.0 scoreless innings and scattering six hits while striking out four.

Helms turned in a 3-for-3 day at the plate, while Thomas,
Brandon Grimsley and
Greg Husnander had one hit each.

Thomas added two RBI, while Helms drove in one.

In the finale Helms and
Corban Taylor picked up SE's only hits, while NWOSU would collect four of their six hits in the top of the third inning and combined with a Storm error would lead to four run inning which proved to be the difference in a 4-0 final score.

Matt Benedict was saddled with the loss after tossing 6.0 innings and allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits and striking out three.

Scott Brinkley threw the final inning and retire the side in order, striking out one.
