ADA, Okla. – Southeastern opened the 2016 spring season with a 5-4 victory over Cowley County CC over the weekend in Ada, Okla., opening the season with a win for the third-straight season.

The Savage Storm move to 1-0 to start the year and will now, thanks to a postponement of their scheduled home opener, will get set for another road trip to take on Southwest Baptist in Fort Smith, Ark.

CCCC entered the contest as the No. 7 team in the NJCAA rankings put out by the ITA and are the top ranked team in their region.

SE opened the match with a 2-1 win in doubles as
Anna Buiukian and
Darija Catipovic teamed up for a 9-8 (5) win at No. 1 doubles.

Despite a setback at two doubles, the duo of Paula Martinez and
Conchi Assiego put together an 8-4 win at three doubles to push the lead to 2-1.

A loss at the one spot in singles would even the match, but
Alexsandra Reljic would push the lead to 3-2 by downing Eva Forneiran at the two position 6-3, 7-5.

Cowley County would pick up wins at numbers three and four to take a brief lead at 4-3.

Martinez would tie the match again with a 6-2, 6-1 win at number five, followed by the match-clinching win by Assiego in the six position, downing Stormi Tippen 6-0, 6-0 to pick up the 5-4 win.
