DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will end the month of February by taking advantage of the leap year to squeeze in its first regional competition against Southwest Baptist on Feb. 28 in Ft. Smith, Ark., before finally getting its home and conference opener on Feb. 29 at the Southeastern Tennis Complex at 2 p.m.

The Savage Storm head into the back-to-back contests with a 1-0 record and have remained ninth in the ITA Central Region rankings where they opened the preseason.

SE opened its season with a 5-4 win over top-10 ranked Cowley Country CC just last week but had its original home opener postponed due to weather.

In its win the Storm got doubles wins at one and three with the duo of
Anna Buiukian and
Darija Catipovic winning at one and
Maria Martinez and
Conchi Assiego winning at number three.

Alexsandra Reljic, Martinez and Assiego would each pick up singles wins to clinch the match.

In the regional opener the Storm take on the No. 1 team in the Central region as well as the 10
th ranked team in the country in Division II.

SBU enters the contest with a 4-0 record that includes a pair of 5-4 wins to open the season, one of which was against Great American Conference rival Harding, and picked up a 6-3 win over Arkansas-Ft. Smith in its last outing.

They are led by Marie Zendher who enters the spring season as the sixth-ranked singles player in the country.

In the GAC opener on Monday SE will face off with the league's newest member in Oklahoma Baptist which enters the weekend as the 10
th-ranked team in the region.

The Bison opened the season on a three-match winning streak that started with a 5-4 win over Cameron, but have dropped back-to-back matchups to Drury and Northeastern State by matching 6-3 scores.
