BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Third-seeded Southeastern will open play in the Great American Conference Tournament at 10 a.m. on Thursday when it takes on No. 6 seed Henderson State in the tournament's leadoff game in Bentonville, Ark.
The Savage Storm enter the tournament with a 29-21 record overall ont he season and a 25-15 mark in league play, while the Reddies come in at 32-24 on the year overall and finished the conference slate at 23-21.
When the two teams met over the first weekend in March at the Southeastern Softball Field it was SE who had the advantage, sweeping all four games which ended up being the final four games of a 13-game winning streak.
SE is led by a trio of All-GAC seniors with conferecne player fot he year
Jessica Simmons leading the way with a league-best .471 batting average and 46 stolen bases. Â
Sydney Kramer with her .357 average, 27 RBI and 19 stolen bases as well as
Laramie Beal's .346 mark with five homers and 34 RBI round out the trio.
Emily Cudd and
Jessica Seay have handled the pitchign duties, with Cudd posting team-best marks of a 3.02 ERA and 14 wins, while Seay leads the team with 109 strikeouts.
Ashlyn White leads the HSU offense with a .379 average, 15 home runs and 50 RBI, while Michelle Sorenson paces its pitching staff with a 3.00 ERA ad 19 wins.Â
