DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will open play at the Great American Conference Tournament on May 12 at 4:30 p.m. when it takes on No. 26 Arkansas-Monticello in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The Savage Storm entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed and advanced to the final four tournament after a series victory over East Central last weekend which moved SE to 29-23 on the season.

In an odd turn of events following an opening round upset, SE and UAM will be playing each other as the two highest remaining seeds, while No. 8 seeded Arkansas Tech, who upset top ranked Southwestern Oklahoma State, will take on fourth-seeded Henderson State in the opener at 1 p.m.

The four team tournament is double elimination and with a win the Storm would move on to face the winner between ATU and HSU at 4 p.m. on May 13, while a loss would place them in an elimination game against the loser of the first matchup at 1 p.m. on Friday.

Southeastern is 5-5 in its last 10 outings due in large part to a three-game sweep at the hands of UAM in the second-to-last series of the regular season. However, heading into that stretch the Storm were one of the hottest teams in the conference if not the country as they reeled off a 13-2 record in the 15 games leading up to that series.

SE features a group of five hitters batting over .300 on the year, led by Logan Terwilliger who is hitting .339 with 12 doubles, nine home runs and a team-best 45 RBI.

Corban Taylor is next in line at .327 with 24 RBI, while Kaleb Thomas is hitting .325 with 25 RBI.

Dylan Helms is hitting .320 with a team-best 13 doubles, nine home runs and 29 RBI, while Greg Husnander is hitting .312 with eight home runs and 25 RBI.

Brandon Grimsley is just shy at .283, but leads the team with 11 home runs and has added 40 RBI.

On the hill, Dylan Linke had piled up an 8-3 record with a 4.94 ERA, including a complete-game two-hitter in a series-opening win over ECU in the GAC First Round Series last weekend. He's tossed 94.2 innings and struck out 75.

Brady Colbert carries a 5-3 record with 10 saves and a 4.37 ERA while leading the team in strikeouts with 78 over 22 appearances with a pair of starts.

UAM also features five hitters over .300, led by Corey wood at .364 with 21 home runs and 69 RBI.

The Boll Weevil pitching staff is paced by Braden Chambers with an 11-0 record and a 3.19 ERA with 66 strikeouts, while Dawson Moser leads the team in saves with nine.
