ALLENDALE, Mich. – Southeastern golf continues to make history this season after qualifying for its fourth-straight Central/Midwest Super Regional the Savage Storm battled for the lead throughout the final day and finished second at the super regional, earning their first ever berth in the NCAA Division II Championship May 17-21 in Denver, Colo.

SE held leads during the second and the final rounds, and moved up from third-place on the final day to finish second, just one-shot behind winner Central Missouri, firing a three-round score of 901 to UCM's 900.

The final round played as the most difficult of the tournament by far as SE battled rain for nearly the entire day along with wind chills in the 30's to card a 310 on Wednesday after rounds of 291 and 300 for the first two rounds. No team was able to break the 300 mark on the final day.

Zach James carried his momentum into the final round and despite firing a seven-over 78 on the day he finished second in the tournament, just one shot off the lead. He posted one birdie and survived a pair of double-bogeys by posting 11 pars. He finished with a three-round tally of 219.

Hayden Foster carded the team's best final round with a five-over 76 which moved him into a tie for 21
st with a 227 total event score. He turned in three birdies and posted par scores on nine holes to offset six over-par holes.

One of the players in that tie in 21
st was
Mason Horner who carded a 79 on the final day to also finish with a 227 for the week. He posted a pair of birdies, but was plagued by nine over-par holes to go eight-over for the round.

Guillermo Retana matched James' final round score of 78, doing so with a birdie and 10 pars, with seven of those coming on the back-nine. The round brought his total score to 230 which put him in a tie for 38
th.

Marcos Sevilla Suarez rounded out the Storm golfers, matching the same final round 78 posted by James and Retana. Sevilla turned in three birdies on the front nine. He finished the week with a 232 in a tie for 54
th.

SE and UCM finished within a shot of each other at the top of the standings, while the two teams put separation between them and third where Bellarmine finished with a 908.

Tiffin finished fourth with a 912 and Central Oklahoma rounded out the top-five finishers who will advance to the national finals with a 913.
Â
Fellow Great American Conference opponent Southwestern Oklahoma State finished two shots out of that fifth spot with a 915 in a tie for sixth with Lewis.
Â
Northern Michigan was eighth with a 916, while Lindenwood and Washburn rounded out the top 10 in a tie for ninth at 917.

SE's two other conference rivals in Henderson State and Arkansas Tech finished tied for 13
th with a 922.
Â
The golf National Championship will be held in conjunction with the 2016 Division II National Championships Festival and will be played at the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.
