EL DORADO, Ark. – The Southeastern men's golf team played 36 holes on the first day of the Arkansas Collegiate and is tied for tenth after two rounds. The Savage Storm shot 47-over 335 in round one and improved on their score in the second, firing in a 29-over 317.
No. 26 Harding paces the 15-team field in first with a score of 24-over 600, followed by GAC rival Southern Arkansas in second at 41-over 617. No. 32 Central Missouri sits third at the end of day one with a score of 50-over 626, and three strokes separate fourth-place Tyler JC (+55) and Pittsburg State (+58) in fifth.
Nicholas Martin led the Southeastern five-bag on day one, recording a 14-over 158 over the two rounds of play. Martin shot 11-over 83 in the first round, but quickly improved in the second, firing a 3-over 75.
Austin Skierski followed with back-to-back 9-over 81 rounds for a combined score of 18-over 162. Skierski saw his best play over the two rounds come on the back nine, as he shot 3-over par on the final half in both rounds.
Tristun Burnham completed day one 19-over 163 after registering rounds of 15-over 87 and 4-over 76. Burnham turned in his lowest round in the second with a 4-over 76 with a pair of birdies and would shoot 1-over par on the front nine.
Reid Sharp and
Dilyn Hart finished three strokes apart, as Sharp shot 25-over 169 and Hart tallied a 28-over 172. Sharp's best round came in the first with a 12-over 84, while Hart put in his best round in the second, shooting 13-over 85.
Southeastern concludes the final round at the Arkansas Collegiate tomorrow from the Part 72 Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Ark.
