BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Southeastern women's tennis saw its 2015-16 season come to an end in the Central Region I finals on a 5-1 loss to No. 11 ranked and top-seeded Northeastern State on Monday afternoon at The Club at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow, Okla.
Â
The match was moved to an indoor facility after weather looked to force delays throughout the day.
Â
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 14-4 overall on the season and ends their winning streak at 12 matches.
Â
Conchi Assiego and
Maria Martinez clawed out a 9-7 win at number three doubles to help SE come out of doubles play trailing just 2-1 after losses at the top two positions.
Â
The Storm never found its footing in singles play, with
Darija Catipovic falling at two singles first for a 3-1 deficit.
Â
Neither Assiego nor Martinez were unable to carry any momentum over from their doubles win as they fell at six and three, respectively to fashion the 5-1 final.
