DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern softball will open its home season proper on Feb. 16 when it hosts Newman in a twinbill at the Southeastern softball Field with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.

The Savage Storm heads into the contests with a 4-4 mark on the season, opening the year with a 4-2 record at the Southeastern Regional Invitational, before dropping a pair of road games at Cameron in Lawton, Okla.

Offensively SE has a group of five hitters who are swinging at a .300 clip or better, led by
Kennedy Salyers who is hitting .379 to open the year, while
Destiny Riddle is right behind at .370.

Salyers has a trio of doubles and three RBI with a team-high eight runs scored, while Riddle has turned in four doubles, a home run and nine RBI.

Jordynn James has added nine RBI and a home run, while
Mykaela Wallace and
Conner Harmon each have a home run.

Emily Cudd leads the Storm pitching staff with a 3-1 record in seven appearances with a 3.71 ERA. She has started four games, tossing two complete and recording a shutout on her way to 28.1 innings pitched with 11 strikeouts.

Newman comes into the double-header with a 2-11 record overall on the year after going 2-4 to open the year at the SAU Softball Invitational, but has dropped seven-straight over the last five days.

Ariole O'Neal leads the Jet offense with a .364 average after posting a pair of doubles, a home run and five RBI.

She also paces the club in the circle where she has compiled a 2-1 record over four appearances with one start with a 2.56 ERA.
